Batten down the hatches. . . Katia pays a visit. . . .

Its been a bit wild and windy here on the island over the last couple of days, thanks to Hurricane Katia's tail feathers! The waves coming in over the pier during high tide this morning and afternoon were impressive albeit a wee bit scary, and the noise and energy of the sea proved it indeed was a force to be reckoned with! The swell was heaving, and there is a distinct colour palette of muted grey and greens with amazingly bright white foamy waves that lets you know a storm is a comin'! As for the wind, well let me put it this way - strewn seaweed everywhere, strewn plant pots, strewn hens and ducks (none harmed though :) ) and my beetroot, pak choi and kale are a bit bent to say the least!! I also found a bit of a roof slate outside this morning....hmmmm....curious!!!But I love storms and I love stormy nights in particular! So what to do on nights like this??? A warm fire, freshly made scones and a mug o' hot chocolate - thats me sorted!
